skeet-shoot.jpgThe District IV Shotgun Contest has been officially rescheduled for Saturday May 30th at the Paris Trap and Gun Club.  Registration will begin at 8:30am.  As soon as I get a shooting order, I will e-mail it out to you, and provide it to your coach so he can make sure everyone knows.  If you have questions, call or e-mail me.  Keep practicing, it would be really cool if our shotgun and rifle teams won District!

Click It or Ticket!

Clickitdaynightlogoround2.jpgYou will probably be hearing about the 2009 Click It or Ticket campaign either by seeing a billboard or a commercial on TV.  This year they are putting an emphasis on getting young drivers, such as some of y'all to BUCKLE UP.. EVERY TIME you get in the car!  More than half of the young drivers killed in 2007 were NOT wearing a seat belt at the time of their crash.  WOW.. that stat is crazy.  It's scary how many times I know that I get in my truck and forget and then realize it as I'm passing a police officer or something.  I know that I'm going to try and be more vigilant about buckling up and I hope you guys will join me in an effort to make sure we buckle up every time we get in a vehicle.

As part of the campaign they are offering a free song download if you watch their video on line.  I think it's a little over a minute.  So think it over.. a minute of your life to watch a video and you get some free music, and who knows, maybe you'll buckle up and that seatbelt will save your life.  So FREE music and saving your life all in one.  AWESOME!

Here's the flyer they sent me.  Just go to their website watch the movie and it should direct you through the rest of it.

Please Buckle Up y'all.  I'd hate for anything to happen to any of my amazing Lamar County 4-H'ers

We have confirmation from District that the Rifle Competition has been rescheduled for Saturday May 30th.  The shooting order will be the same as previously released.  Come out and support your fellow 4-H'ers as they shoot for a spot at State.

Howdy Y'all!

Last night we had a very productive meeting of the Lamar County 4-H Council.  We not only elected new officers for next year, but we actually conducted business.  Just to put a bug in your ear, we are going to start selling tickets for a drawing for 4 Pre-Season Tickets to a Dallas Cowboys football game at the new stadium.  Stay tuned and check back on the blog for more details.  Anyways.. Here's the officer team that will be governing our association for 2009-2010

President-Misty Jackson

1st Vice President-Lauren Milligan

2nd Vice President-Tanner Beard

Secretary-Presley Edwards

Treasurer-Amelia Preston

Reporter-Kayla VanDerSchaaf

Information Chair-Beth Ann Dougherty

Congratulations to everyone who ran for an office.  Taking Risks is a vital part of being a LEADER, and running for office is definitely taking a chance.  I hope that those of you that didn't get elected to an officer position will not become discouraged but come to all the meetings next year and be an active participant.  Also.. we will be assigning committees at the beginning of next year so be thinking about a way you would like to serve our organization.

Those of you that were elected to a position be looking for an e-mail from me regarding leadership training activities.  Hope y'all have a great rest of the week.
