Concession Stand Clean-Up

Howdy 4-H!

I know this is short notice and I apologize for that, but we will be cleaning out the concession stand tomorrow, Thursday September 24, at the Red River Valley Fair Ground in preparation for our fundraiser next week during the Fair.  I will start cleaning with anybody who is already out of school starting at 2pm tomorrow.  If you can come by when you get out of school any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also this gives me an opportunity to let you know that you need to make contact with your club manager and find out when you can come help work the concession stand.  Each night starting with Tuesday have been assigned to individual clubs.  The schedule is:

Tuesday   County Council
Wednesday   Roxton
Thursday    North Lamar
Friday     Chisum
Saturday Morning   Prairiland
Saturday Evening   Pat Mayse and Anyone else who can be there to help out as Saturday evening will most likely be our busiest time.

I am also throwing in another reminder about bringing your 12 pack of drinks by the Extension Office.  We really need each 4-H member if possible to donate a 12 pack of soft drinks.  This is pure profit for the 4-H.  If you need to bring them to the concession stand the night you work instead of bringing them to us before hand, please let me know so I can count that in our total count of drinks.  Right now we don't have nearly enough to make it through the week.  I hope y'all are excited about the opportunity we have to make some money for the 4-H.

Fort Worth Calf Scramble

Any of you that are 14-17 and no farther than your Junior Year in High School are eligible to run in the Calf Scramble at the Fort Worth Exposition and Livestock Show.  Participants that catch a calf are awarded a $500 scramble certificate to be used for the purchase of a calf.  All Participants receive a free t-shirt and cap and those participants that don't actually catch a calf are given a free pair of boots, courtesy of the Justin Boot Company.  We can sign up 6 members, so the first 6 to respond to me will get the opportunity.  4 are definite runners and the other 2 are alternates, so hurry and make sure you're one of the 4 that get to run.  E-mail me at mcpreston@ag.tamu.edu, or call me at the office at 903 737 2443 and we'll get you signed up.

Howdy!

I have spoken to our Rifle Project Leader, Mr. Osbourne, and he has set the first meeting of the year to be held at 6:00pm on Thursday September 24th @ the Extension Office.  Any and all who are interested in participating in the Rifle Project should attend this meeting as he will be covering Rifle and range safety as well as polling the attendees on what days and times work best to have Rifle Practice.  If you have any questions, please e-mail me or call the office.  I hope we have a big turn out and get the Rifle Project going STRONG in 2009-2010.

Howdy!

I know some of you may have heard and some of you not, but 4-H enrollment for 09-10 is going to be completely online.  If you are reading this blog, you must be on a computer, so go on over to the Texas 4-H Website, and sign up through 4-H Connect.

I am attaching the manuals that give you step by step instructions on how to create a family profile and register members.  If you have any questions, please don't think twice about calling the 4-H Office.  Our number is 903-737-2443.  If you would prefer you can contact me directly by e-mail at mcpreston@ag.tamu.edu, or our wonderful office manager Betty at lamar@ag.tamu.edu.  Thanks for getting registered and I'm really looking forward to a successful year in the Lamar County 4-H.
