The 15th Annual Hill Country Goat Classic will be held Saturday, December 15th at Mansfield Park Showbarn in beautiful Bandera, Texas. Please print off the enclosed flyer and entry form.

Here is a great opportunity for kids ages 13 to 17 years old to develop leadership and career development skills. The camp will be held November 17-18, at the T BAR M Ranch in New Braunfels. Cost is $100.00. Deadline to register is October 27th! For an application and medical release, please print off the forms attached.

The Bandera 4-H Clover Booster club will have a "Breakfast Taco Sale for 4-H Scholarships" on Saturday, October 27th at Mansfield Park Showbarn beginning at 7:30 a.m. Come get a pipin hot taco and cup of coffee.
All proceeds raised will benefit the Bandera 4-H Youth Scholarship Fund! If you would like to donate any items, please contact or come by the Extension Office at 830-796-7755.
The District 10 4-H Gold Star Banquet was held Saturday, October 14, at the Uvalde Country Club. This event honors the outstanding 4-H members from the 21 counties in District 10 who have been selected to receive 4-H’s highest honor. The 4-H member from Bandera County who was recognized is Seth Saathoff, Pipe Creek 4-H Club.
Gold Star recipients were special guests of AEP-Texas, the sponsor of the Gold Star Banquet for over 40 years. Each honoree received the traditional Gold Star Pin from Texas Cooperative Extension, an engraved Cross Pen from AEP-Texas, and a small container of Play-Do from the keynote speaker, Mrs. Lori Richter. Mrs. Richter provided the Play-Do as a visual reminder to the recipients that they are responsible for shaping their lives and forming themselves into the person they want to be.
Have you decided on your recipe for the BCJLS Bake Show yet? The deadline to enter the Bake Show is Thurday, October 25th at 12noon. 4-H'ers must be enrolled in 4-H. Entries must include your recipe and $10.00 entry fee.

Print off your copy of the 2007-08 4-H Academic Eligibility Dates and post it to your calendar.
In order to participate in various 4-H events, 4-H members must be academically eligible. If you have any questions, call or come by the Extension Office.
We are debuting a new format for our newsletter. Please let us know your comments. This newsletter also includes a handout for the 2007-2008 4-H Academic Eligibility dates - so be sure to print one off and post it to your calendar and refrigerator. Also, if you have not enrolled in 4-H for the 2007-08 year, this is the last newsletter you will be receiving.

Are you looking for money for college!! There will be a 4-H scholarship training held on Tues, Oct. 30th from 6pm to 8pm at the Bexar County Extension office. This is a great opportunity for high school senior and junior kids and parents. For more information, call or come by the Extension Office.
If you will be showing broilers (chickens) this year in the county livestock show, then come out to the Poultry Project Meeting, Saturday, Oct. 20 from 9am to 11am at the Mansfield Showbarn Conference Room. Julie and Seth Saathoff are our poultry project leaders. They will discuss feed, water, housing and much more to help you have a successful project. Did you know that Texas 4-H is 100 year old! Did you know that the first 4-H clubs were the boys Corn Club and the girls Tomato club? Oct. 8-12 is National 4-H Week. In conjunction with the Texas 4-H Centennial, our Bandera County 4-H Council will be spreading green throughout Bandera by tying ribbons on the courthouse lawn and displaying National 4-H week on local business marquees. So do your part, if you have not joined 4-H, then stop by the Extension Office to get an enrollment form.
