4-H Recordbooks

| | Comments (0)

It's that time already!  The Deadline is June 23, 2008 at 3:00 p.m.  There are no exceptions!

Record Books are not considered a "fun" project, but they are a great learning tool, and essential when applying for a 4-H Scholarship.  So the younger you start doing Record Books, the better they become as you tweak them each year!

For help with your Record Book, go to:  http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/youth/recordkeeping.html .  If you get stumped, Tommy or Dee Lee will be glad to assist you.

USDA OFFERS AGRICULTURE YOUTH LOANS

Farm Service Agency (FSA) makes operating loans to individual rural youths to finance income-producing, agriculture-related projects of modest size in connection with their participation in 4-H clubs, Future Farmers of America, and similar organizations.

Each project must be part of an organized and supervised program of work. The project must be planned and operated with the help of the organization advisor, produce sufficient income to repay the loan, and provide the youth with practical business and educational experience in agriculture-related skills.

To apply or learn more about youth loans or other loan programs, please contact your local USDA Service Center at www.fsa.usda.gov

8th Annual East Texas Youth Beef Camp

| | Comments (0)

The Smith and Van Zandt County 4-H programs will host their 8th annual East Texas Youth Beef Camp July 10-12.

This is an intense three-day event offering detailed information based on exhibitor's experience level. This in-depth training not only provides a strong foundation for those showing cattle, but also instills the importance of sportsmanship, ethical decisions, and proper animal management.

This is an excellent program for both new and experienced beef exhibitors!
