The 23rd Annual Smith County Hay Show held at the East Texas State Fair was a huge success today! Our sale total of $22,750 was more than our 2006 sale total of $21,000!
This year's Grand Champion bale was exhibited by Ben Plunk of Lindale and was purchased by Steele's Fertilizer in Troup for $2,100. The Reserve Champion bale was exhibited by M&M Farms of Bullard (Malcolm and Mike Williams) and was purchased by Agriland Farm Credit Services of Tyler for $1,500. Proceeds of the sale benefit youth activities and scholarships of the Smith County Soil and Water Conservation District, East Texas Cattlettes, and the East Texas State Fair Junior Livestock Show.
