Just a few days after a local producer reported to me that he was the target of a scam attempt involving hay he had listed for sale on the Internet, I heard from our State Forage Specialist, Dr. Larry Redmon, that three different producers in Arkansas had been the targets of attempted scams as well.
The three Arkansas cases involved a person from New York state wanting to purchase 15 rolls of hay from each producer. In one of the cases, the farmer took the cashier's check to the bank and found that it was a fake. None of the Arkansas producers lost any hay or money to the thief. Be on the lookout................
