Tips for Winter Hay Feeding

| | Comments (0)
As we reach the beginning of the hay feeding season, here are a few tips for maximizing the return on your investment.

1. Match hay quality to animal needs.

2. Feed in a well drained site to reduce feeding loss.

3. Feed outside stored hay before inside stored hay.

4. Hay racks and rings reduce feeding losses.

5. Minimizing the amount of hay available to animals at one time reduces losses.

6. Supplement with protein and/or energy (as needed) to encourage consumption of lower quality hay.
