Pesticide Applicators in Texas who are looking for those 'dreaded' renewal hours for their license have several options for obtaining their credits.
You can attend on-line courses, at-home courses, and face-to-face courses. Each one has its own pluses and minuses. On-line and at-home courses can be completed at your convenience, from the comfort of your own home, but typically cost more than face-to-face courses and can only be used for a certain number of renewal hours depending on your license type. Face-to-face courses are typically less expensive than the previous two options, but you must attend/participate in these courses when they are offered, which is not necessarily at your convenience.
The Smith County Extension office is offering three, two hour continuing education video sessions on Monday, February 25, 2008, starting at 1 PM and ending at 7 PM at our office (1517 West Front St., Suite 116, Tyler, TX).
Sessions are as follows:
1 to 3 PM = 1.5 hours Laws & Regulations and 0.5 hours General credit
3 to 5 PM = 2.0 hours of Integrated Pest Management
5 to 7 PM = 2 hours of General credit

As a reminder:
Private Applicators - must receive 15 hours CEU credit every 5 years (of which 2 hours must be in the Laws & Regulations category and 2 hours must be in the Integrated Pest Management category) in order to renew their license.
Commercial and Non-commercial applicators - must obtain 5 CEUs annually (1 hour each in two of the following three categories is required; Laws & Regulations, Integrated Pest Management, or Drift Minimization) for license renewal.
