The Smith County Extension office will be sponsoring a free 'Preparing for Winter Feeding' workshop for beef cattle owners on Monday, November 10, 2008. The program, which will begin at 3 PM and conclude around 5 PM, will be held at the Extension office (1517 West Front Street, Suite 116) in Tyler.
The speaker for the program will be Dr. Jason Banta, Extension Beef Cattle Specialist from Overton. Topics to be addressed include: matching hay to the proper class of livestock; getting the most bang for your feed dollar; storing hay properly to extend its storage life; and interpreting forage analysis reports. Producers who have had their hay analyzed this summer are encouraged to bring their analysis reports with them to the meeting.
